Amber Glen, American figure skater, was one of the favorites to win the gold in the Short Program in the 2026 Winter Olympics. But instead of the expected triple loop jump, Glen executed a double, giving her zero points. Although she did the double loop jump perfectly, her tears spoke volumes of what it cost—losing over seven points.
Not all our checklist items get checked sometimes. We make a judgment call, changing our steps as we move forward. And there are moments when there is no room for flexibility and we set aside our list for the new requirement. But it doesn’t mean failure. It just means, “Not now”.
It’s so true that “the heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps” (Proverbs 16:9). It’s always good to consider God’s input as we plan.
