A documentary filmmaker was given a garden tour and was amazed by what he saw. The flowers were in full bloom with a riot of colors. He wanted to make sure that when he returns with his crew to shoot, they will be able to capture that beauty. His guide explained that things come and go, but there’s always something to take their place.
The guide’s statement is so true. Just think about being on a tour and you’re deliberating on a purchase at one stop. The moment you get back on the tour bus, you know that you will say goodbye to that store. There is no guarantee that you will find a hidden gem in the next one.
The best choice is to fully appreciate what’s available in the present moment. Even the psalmist reminds us that “this is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (118:24).
