I am currently reading a second romance novel set aboard the Titanic, where one of the heroines had her fortune told weeks prior to embarkation. The fortuneteller told her that “she will be on a small boat in the middle of the ocean.” Aboard the magnificent ship, surrounded by the opulence and constant entertainment, her anxiety disappeared. (Note: I am not going to reveal the ending of the story.)
When a fierce storm came up while Jesus and His disciples were aboard a boat on the Sea of Galilee, even the former fishermen panicked. But not Jesus! He was peacefully sleeping until woken up by them and had to calm the storm. (Read Mark 4:35-41.)
The lesson is not about being a seasoned sailor or having sea legs or handling choppy water, especially during a storm. It’s about handling the stresses of life and how you face it. More importantly, it’s who you call for help when you need it. If it’s Jesus, smooth sailing ahead is guaranteed.
