Why Traveling Light is Good Advice

My husband and I recently traveled to Britain and Ireland. The tour company had a limit of one checked baggage per person, and a carry-on meant “without wheels”. This advisory worked out well because we had no issues trying to fit our carry-on in the bus’s overhead bin and it was easy for us to manage our checked luggage, especially when my husband’s back pain started.

In everyday life, it’s good to remember to do the same—travel light. Max Lucado’s book, Traveling Light, reminds us of the extra “stuff” we all like to carry—toxic attitudes, unbecoming behavior, negative emotions and more. They hurt our relationships with one another, and with God.

“Cast all your anxiety [and the excess baggage] on him because he cares for you,” Peter said. Let’s avoid lugging around burdens. It’s time to travel light, so we can fully enjoy the journey.
