In Search for Wellness

“I just want to finish my book,” my daughter told us after we were able to get all her children down for an afternoon nap. With three children between the ages of 0 and five, she and her husband have their hands full. So, their usual weekend visit to Lola and Papa’s home brings a little respite to their busy household routine.

How about you? What kind of break are you looking forward to? Don’t feel guilty about wanting to have some “me” time. Sometimes it’s finishing a book or watching a movie without interruption. It could be an hour of rest to make up for the very long days of childcare or a little shopping therapy, minus the kids. It could even be baking cookies, if you’re one of those.

God is always ready to bring healing and wellness to His children. Of course, the best self-care is to rest on the Lord (Mathew 11:29) and to maintain a cheerful heart (Proverbs 17:22) even amidst the chaos.

Care for yourself as you care for others.
