When a “No Question Asked” Purchase Backfires

On our way to The Golden Temple in Bangkok, our driver reminded my husband that he would not be allowed to go inside because he was wearing shorts. So, we headed to one of the shops by the parking area and picked out a pair of Thai traditional cotton pants for him to wear.

After our sightseeing and on our way back to the car, I decided I want to match my husband. So, we went back to the same shop for my pair and had the seller pick one for me instead. No question asked! I quickly paid for the purchase.

I was excited to wear my comfy pair that evening for our relaxing massage appointment. After a quick shower, I put it on except…the pants size and length would have comfortably fit my husband who is 6’3” tall! Undeterred and determined, I folded the leg bottoms, using hair ties to shorten them. But I discovered one more flaw. The front pocket was sewn backwards—totally unusable!

We laughed so hard at the comedy of my pants. I did learn a big lesson: “Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool” (Proverbs 28:26). Thank God the pants cost me only a handful of dollars or I would have been an even bigger fool!
