We were trying a new restaurant, and it was so hard to even hear ourselves give our order because of the noise. My grandson even commented on it. We almost had to shout for us to have a conversation with one another.
It’s interesting that many are not fans of silence. One friend said that he loves taking long, solitary walks, but fills it with noise—okay, music—because he is uncomfortable to be alone with his thoughts. So, he decided to be more intentional, using the time to listen to God’s voice instead. Admitting that it hasn’t been easy, he has been discovering how his heart and mind are slowly being transformed by the experience.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know I am God.” These quiet moments allow us to reflect and dig deeper into a more intimate time with the Lord. The more we agree to reframe our minds about silence, the less awkward we will feel about being alone. Hopefully…with God.
