A friend sent a group text with a reminder that insomnia is just the brain’s way of making rhythm adjustments. I am sure that all of us have experienced sleepless nights. Since the holidays just passed, my mind returned to a line in Silent Night. Sleep in heavenly peace. We deserve a peaceful night of rest for health and happiness.
I pulled out Rebekah Lyons’ book on Rhythms and Renewal, which she graciously autographed with a message: You were made for peace. It may sound contrived, but Jesus Himself said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27 NIV). It’s time to embrace Jesus’ gift of peace and leave behind our fears and anxieties. Enjoy a night of rest too!
