“I don’t feel too good,” my husband said. “I need you to take over the driving as I am feeling nauseated.” We were still 10 hours away from our destination. Truth be told, I’d rather be a passenger even if I have no trouble driving. So, I took over from him to give him some rest.
Miles and miles of no-man’s land was on both sides of the two-lane highway. Uphill and downhill. But the twisting road and sudden bends put me on the alert! There was no stopping for scenic views. I just kept going!
Life sometimes brings these bends in the road. A trial. A hard time. And, yes, we feel apprehension, not knowing what’s around the corner. We naturally want to stop and get off the road. But God tells us to go and proceed. If we listen to the still small voice of God helping us navigate the bend, we can discover a surprising, beautiful vista to behold.
Keep going and see what’s around the bend. You too can say what David and I said: “For your name’s sake you lead me and guide me” (Psalm 31:3b).
