Finding Comfort in God’s Tracking

In the past few months, my car’s GPS automatically plotted my drive time from “home to work” during the week. The problem was I was driving to my daughter’s home to babysit, not really a workplace. I was laughing as I shared this with my husband!

Before we had technology, we had to scribble directions to get from one place to another. Today we turn on the car engine and our usual travel times and places are expertly managed for us for efficiency. The system is almost intuitive!

Can we hide our movements from being monitored by sophisticated auto tracking system? This, to me, is far scarier than God knowing my whereabouts. I am comforted by these verses in Psalm 139 because,

  1. God knows me (v.1).
  2. God perceives my thoughts (v.2).
  3. God is familiar with all my ways (v.3).
  4. God knows what I am about to say (v.4).
  5. God protects and guides me (v.5).
