Lesson from a Bird Feeder

Before we married, Ken invited me to see his home. I noticed the bird feeder in the backyard, where a squirrel was happily enjoying breakfast. Ken shared with me how he enjoyed refilling the bird feeder with seeds and watching the birds and squirrels have a feast. I wondered why he cared to have the extra expense, when these creatures are used to scavenging for their food.

Right then, God reminded me of His pleasure in providing for us, His children. He tells us, “Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink… Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them” (Matthew 6:25-26).

Let’s remember that we create our own worries in life because we forget to enjoy what we have today, and that God always takes care of us.
