I was playing a board game with my grandson. When I landed in a “bad spot,” I pretended to cry. My four-year-old grandson immediately said, “Don’t be silly! It’s just a game!” I thought I heard myself and my husband talking!
They used to say that a copycat is the highest form of flattery. Imagine someone trying to be like you—imitating the way you dress or behave…or even wanting your ideas. My grandson parroting me today is kind of cute, but also a good reminder to be careful of what we say and do.
The Bible tells us that we should “walk like those who are wise” (Ephesians 5:15). In truth, there is only one worth copying—and we are encouraged to do so daily. “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children” (v.1).
